Which big name shop would you like?

Which big name shops would other people like to see in Bury St Edmunds? I know lots of people like the unique, boutique style shops but not all of us can afford these and like high street shops too!

I would like Lakeland to come to Bury, it is in keeping with their other store locations. An Apple store would be good to, it's always packed in Cambridge. 8-)

There's an Apple store in Cambridge? You learn something every day.

I'd like John Lewis, Pret à Manger, Pain Quotidien, Borders to come here.

We could also do with a decent bakers. Greggs is a poor substitute.

I'd like the nightclub on Abbeygate Street to go somewhere else. Like the North Sea.

To be honest, there are very few shops that I would personally like to see that would realistically come here. Completely unrealistic wishlist would include: Ralph Lauren, True Religion, Apple, Sevenoaks. There are lots of shops I'd like to see come here which would be good for the town but that's a completely different question :)

Apple would be good :D although they'd never come here....we're not big enough and don't have a university.

It's in the Grand Arcade (lovely new shopping centre, done well) opposite Build a Bear (which I do NOT wish to come to Bury!)

I'd love a John Lewis but Debenhams rules that out :( a decent deli would be nice, there was one in St John's Street for a while but it was absolutely awful.

I second that.

Fortunately, Waitrose is in the middle of town and has a good deli section. If Waitrose shut down I'd be scuppered.

A John Lewis to replace debenhams when the free rent runs out, and they pull out of the town for the second time. OR a John Lewis which in turn may force Debenhams to refocus and re consider. ( that is a dream really is it not).
A lot more small shops across all the trades, A good deli, and wet fish shop, and an Aldi. ( NOT a Lidl).
Maybe a couple of outlet stores.

Aldi would lower the tone a bit :? We've already got an Asda, isn't that downmarket enough :?:
