It looks like Marchants is getting ready to reopen in its new guise. It will be interesting to see how different it is. I'd be interested to see your reports here! :D

I'm hoping the new shop will be more welcoming to parents with children in tow. I know some people do not control their children but I wish the 'ladies' in there would appraise the child's behaviour before glaring and sneering at those of us who DO. If the staff remains the same I cannot see any change.

An update! I went in the newly opened kitchen shop in St. Johns street today complete with 2 kids and a Grandma  and was very pleasantly surprised. The refurbishment has made a complete difference to the shop. Gone is the dark and oppresive decor. It is now much more open and light. The staff were very friendly and the range of stock was fantastic! I was so tempted by the funky rubber washing up bowl but resisted when I saw the £49.95 price tag! I would now highly recommend a visit to this shop.

I think this new cookshop is fantastic. We've spent FAR too much money in here! The referbishment makes the shop feel brighter and bigger and the staff, although the same ones as Marchants, somehow seem more friendly and helpful.
