Right, I can do a better more informative review now that I've had a chance to eat there.

Firstly, I had another coffee and it was excellent (and based on two coffees, consistently excellent): better than Caffe Nero and The Lounge (in my opinion). Secondly, the food was very good. Pastries are excellent, and the cheese they are using is really good (which makes an enormous difference in sandwiches, etc.). I plan to go back several times and work my way through the menu. The prices are reasonable too (coffee is cheaper than Caffe Nero, for example).

The only drawback is the limited space (there is downstairs seating, though). On the basis of the excellent food and coffee, this is going to be a problem - for the customers!

So I would say that we probably have a new "best café" in Bury.

I thought about going there for lunch today but there were no menus in the window - as I was quite hungry I didn't want to risk going in and then looking rude if I took one look at the menu and left. On the basis of Kt1's suggestion I'll give it a try during the week when I'm not in the mood for something substantial.

I popped into Saints this morning. I agree with Kt1 on the quality of the coffee, it is very good.

Had a good coffee there Monday, and they also gave me a loyalty card with a couple of extra stamps on it. I asked about the tables outside as it is difficult to get served if you have a dog and are on your own, and they are hoping to get waitress service started for the outside tables. Otherwise he said just pop in and order and they will bring it out to you. All in all a positive experience. One mum came in and asked if they were ok with buggies, and the owner went out to help her in with it. The waitress was very good with the children, giving them extra chocolate and cold milk in case the drink was too hot for the toddler.

Oh it's a coffee shop is it? Will probably do better than the bar idea before. I'm guessing counter and food etc are all upstairs and it's just seating downstairs??

Personally, the lounge is my favourite in Bury, i'll give Saints ago though and see if I can be persuaded to change my mind.

It's licensed too, so if you want a glass of wine with your lunch, that works (it's nice to have the option, particularly in summer).

The downstairs is where all the comfy chairs are: more like a lounge (sofas etc.)

My favourite was Caffe Nero (the sulky teenaged staff in The Lounge got on my nerves). But I've a new favourite now..

I've been in a couple of times this week and I'm very impressed. Speedy service with none of the delays (or grumpy teenage service) of the Lounge and the coffee is much better - they even ask how strong you like it. The pastries and sandwiches are good too.

There's a stamp-your-card loyalty scheme (I'm a proud card-owner).

Given that they've been open for less than a week, all in all it's a pretty amazing start.
