I agree Kt1, I went there again recently and it is by far and away the best curry house in Bury and, from my experience, Suffolk. One more vote and Valley Connection gets the tumbs up from us - you seem to have voted twice ;) Although I agree it is worth two votes!

Aug it is worth a visit, but avoid friday and saturday evenings, they have a habit of cramming you in, if you have a 8pm table, its often required for a 10pm sitting. Apart from one less than satifactory experience, its the best around east anglia. mid weeks the service and food does seem better. :?

We went to Pizza Express on Sunday lunchtime to celebrate Picklesgrandma and Picklesgrandad's 40th Wedding Anniversary and we all really enjoyed the meal. Both Pickle and her sister ate all their meal and they are notoriously fussy eaters.
Thanks to Buryboy and all those who recommended it. :D

If you're going to go again, check out the various deals they do from time to time. I believe Tesco clubcard points can still be used to buy vouchers at 4x the value of the points (i.e. 4p/point). And last time I went with friends I printed out a voucher from the Pizza Express website that gave a BOGOF on main courses.

Masion Bleue received a average write up from the Telegraph ( Sat 10th October). Which is a shame really. The food was described as "bland", which may well be because it was the very good value lunch time menu, which cateres for a less decerning group than the evening when prices are higher, or maybe how people like it "out in the sticks". The service was not up to the normal standard. and un due column inches was taken up with a new and possibly inexperienced french waitress. Acknoledgement was given to fron of house.

Now I must say front to house is always on the ball, and since Frank left and Linda ( i think name escapes me) returned to france last year to open an establishment with family, Masion Bleue have struggled to find a good replacement for back of house. There really is a difference in the experience currently, and if the telegraph report corrects this, its to all our benefits.

Maison Bleue is still the best establishment for that special occation.

While I agree Maison Bleue is good, they've been playing it safe for far too long. They need to rediscover some flair, they seem to be lacking the innovation that was so apparent five or six years ago. It's the problem with a good reputation - the desire to improve still further recedes and other places catch up. They don't need wholesale change, their food is quite classic and too much experimentation could ruin their appeal. Perhaps it's time for a new chef to take the helm?

Does anyone know the phone number for Bang Bangs? They don't have a website and at the moment we top the google search along with the BFP!

Ate in Valley Connection on Thursday - the food, service and atmosphere were wonderful. I've previously eaten here at weekends and disliked the rush to get you in and out as quickly as possible. Thurday's experience was far more relaxed and enjoyable. I will certainly go again - but I'll avoid the busy periods.
