I went to see the opening night of this show last night, and want to say what an excellent performance I thought it was.
Written in 1792, only now is The Massacre being premiered, so controversial and shocking was it when first written. Sadly, it is still all too accurate a portrayal of society, and I personally found both the material and the performance extremely moving.
For a more detailed write-up of the play, this is the recent article in The Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/stage/theatre ... atre-royal.
The Requiem is performed by a cast of students from the University of Essex, and while often seeming a lighter-hearted piece, soon reminds us of why it is being played out as a 'second act' to The Massacre.
I would highly recommend this show, for the plays themselves and for the very high quality of acting and staging involved. Excellent through and through.
