West Suffolk House heating problems

Postby Archie » Wed Jan 20, 2010 7:03 pm

Saw the link on Twitter so thought I'd come and give the forum a go. Nice idea.

I've got a friend who works for St Edmundsbury at West Suffolk House who says the new high tech and very expensive heating system there is a disaster. It's supposed to be environmentally friendly but can't regulate temperatures properly. Does anyone know anything about this? Sounds pretty typical if it's true.

There was something in the paper about this, can't remember quite what but something along the lines of the system needing to learn about the building! Sounds fishy

This is one of the problems of a local council trying to be 'green' and doing it in a completely halfarsed way  There are several internationally renowed companies who work with architects to produce environmentally friendly building which are as comfortable to use as air-conditioned ones. In the UK this should be no problem at all and it should not need bedding in or a computer learning how to do it. I imagine in a bid to save money St Edmundsbury got an architect to do the whole lot and they were not a leader in the field. It's another example of councils trying to save money and ultimately costing more

Anyone any idea how much it is going to cost to fix the problem. I hear the meeting rooms are still cold with visitors having to wear coats gloves and hats after one hour.
More importantly who is going to PAY.
