Fields Need Cutting

Postby cyclegirl » Mon Aug 10, 2009 1:41 pm

You may have had this discussion already about cutting the overgrown grasses on Moreton Hall. I mean specifically the Dog Field in Symonds Road. I have been told that the council wont pay enough money to hire a company to cut and bail the hay ready for animal feed. Does anybody out there know how to get this field cut.
It's a shame that the horse in the next field has hardly anything to eat and yet a field on her right hand side full of horse hay. Anyone got any feedback for me please???

Interesting point Cyclegirl, haven't seen any moreton hall councillors on here yet but perhaps someone can point them in the direction of this.

Have you seen the debate about cycle helmets in the 'Councillors Cars' thread - take a look and let us know what you think, you sound well qualified

For the first time in recent years the "no mans meadows" have been cut ( well nearly cut) over their tolal coverage, making this walk / dog walk safe and pleasing again, one can only assume the low water table has allowed additional access. so often these areas are over looked.
"no mans meadows" run along side raingate street, from the ruuby field to the abbey gardens. In times gone by this area was part of the fish farmer and veg garden of the abbey. modern day allotments.

Has the dog field in Symonds raod been cut yet?

No, dog walking field has not been cut. Although all undergrowth in the field where the horse lives has been removed.

In the middle of September the dog field grass has finally been cut and the bails of hay have now been removed.
Yesterday (17 Sept) I walked around the dog field with Councillor Frank Warby who had new bins put in the entrance of the dog field, one for litter (black) & one for doggies (red). Frank told me it took five months to get the bins installed so I hope the kiddies don't set fire to them.

However, the Heldhaw Road football field is increasing it's litter and rubbish quota. It appears that the footballers of a weekend like to dump their drinking cans, bottles, crisp packets etc etc anywhere on the field. My friend and I have often walked round with our dogs and cleaned the field from 'footballer mess'. Yes ALL the dog walkers clean up after their dogs as we have bags with at all times.

We have asked Frank Warby to install similar bins to the dog field on the Heldhaw Road field as the one in the playground is always overflowing. He said he will look into it. Watch this space.
