What is it for?

It is sort of like a Parish, or village council for Towns people. some thing akin to the vicar of dibley meetings. ( chose your own charaters) but held in the grid ( as in street pattern, and not popular eating house). With out them local people would be by passed on the little council decisions that council officials like to make on their own. Its a sounding board, which if they do the job right, we should see a benefit for those of us that live in the town. Now the costs are under control, and a new chairman. I think the councilors are all unpaid, so its real community in action, or as some say a training gound for the big boys council. reading this again I think is simlar to "What Richard said!"

I think that it is a very useful tool for representation at a local level. The borough council has many many duties and is usually inundated, and has to face issues with villages and Haverhill (where it is recognised special effort needs to be made) so the focus on Bury's needs is not valued as highly as it could be.
